Six friends are on their way to a football game. They decide to camp out for the night and continue driving the next day. The next day the friends find that they're having car troubles, so two of the friends accept a stranger's ride into a small town named Ambrose. The main attraction in Ambrose is the House of Wax. Except something is not right in this town, the wax figures are so realistic and the whole town is deserted - except for two murderous twin brothers. The six friends must fight to survive and escape from being the next exhibits in the House of Wax.

A group of young adults set up tent near the abandoned summer camp where a series of gruesome murders are said to have taken place back in 1980. The perpetrator was a grieving mother, driven insane by the drowning of her child, Jason, whom she believed was neglected by the camp counselors. As legend has it, the last survivor of the attacks beheaded the woman. But then Jason came back, and now he is a vengeful and inexorable killer, wielding crossbows, swords, axes and other sharp instruments. The legend proves horribly true, as these campers quickly discover. Six months later, the brother of one of those campers distributes posters of his missing sister. The police believe she took off with her boyfriend; but he knows better. The brother crosses paths with an uptight young rich guy who is having his girlfriend and friends over at his parents' cabin. The brother ends up at the cabin himself just before his sister's attacker sets upon them all.

Meanwhile, Sam starts to develop frightening abilities that include death visions, visions of people dying before it actually happens. These visions are somehow connected to the demon who murdered his mother and its mysterious plans that seem to be all about Sam. When their father dies striking a deal with the very same devil that had killed his wife, the brothers, now alone and without their mentor, are determined to finish the crusade their father started. But disturbing revelations ...

Dean comes face to face with his mother while Sam fights for his life after being shot by Toni.

After the collision of the truck with the car, John, Sam and Dean Winchester are sent to a hospital with Dean in coma. He avoids being taken by The Reaper and communicates with Sam using a Ouija Board, while John summons The Demon and negotiates the life of Dean, giving the colt and sacrificing his own life to save his son.

Sam, Dean, and Bobby deal with the ramifications of the Gate to Hell opening, meeting the demon incarnations of the Seven Deadly Sins, while Dean is living life to the fullest in the shadow of a deal he made with the Crossroads Demon, and a mysterious blonde woman with a demon-killing knife assists Sam.

Dean suddenly returns from the grave and seeks answers to his return with Bobby's help. Sam, trying to move on, becomes more hardened and reckless with his hunts for demons and other supernatural beings. After being reunited, the Winchester brothers meet with with a psychic friend of Bobby's, named Pamela, where they try to contact the other side to learn more about what happened to Dean, while the demoness Ruby, now in another female body with the alias of Kristy, also appears to offer her assistance.

In the aftermath of the Devil rising, Sam and Dean are whisked away and they are given a message from Chuck Shurley that Castiel is dead and that Luficer walks the Earth. As a result, Sam and Dean turn to Bobby for help to find a mystical weapon, called Michael's Sword. This will enable them to find the Devil before he takes on a new form to bring the slow end of the world. But the Winchester brothers are pitted against the archangel Zachariah who has plans for Dean, as well as more demons. Sam and Dean recognise a demon, Meg, who has returned from Hell.

One year ago, Dean moved to Lisa's house to live a normal, "apple-pie" life with Lisa and her son Ben, as recommended by Sam, working as a construction worker. One day, Dean finds scratches of Djinn in several places and he chases the supernatural being. When his is attacked by the Djinn, he is saved by Sam that tells him that he was released from hell one year ago and teamed-up with their Grandfather Samuel and three Campbells. Now Dean has to decide whether he wishes to leave Lisa and Ben to hunt demons again or stay with his regular life.

Castiel doesn't kill Sam, Dean or Bobby, but warns them not to interfere in his business. Assuming his new role as God, Castiel sets out to right some of the wrongs in the world. Dean decides they should find Death and make him stop Castiel, but the former angel is one step ahead of them, leaving Dean to face a very angry Death. Meanwhile, Sam struggles to deal with the broken wall in his head.

Dean returns from purgatory a year after he disappears. He rejoins Sam, who has already moved on, and together they set out to find Kevin, the Prophet boy captured by Crowley. Since Kevin has escaped they begin to trace the long paper trail.

Sam collapses and Dean sends out an emergency plea through prayer to any, and every, angel in the area to help Sam. In exchange, Dean agrees to owe that angel a favor. However, his request is answered by numerous angry angels who want to kill him. Meanwhile, Castiel struggles to survive without his powers.

Dean is now a demon and is killing for Crowley. It's Dean just with black eyes, and this time he's working for the King of Hell. Although Crowley says to Sam that it's a relationship between the two of them Crowley wants Dean on his side as Dean is the last Knight of Hell thanks to the Mark of Cain and the First Blade.

The birth of Jack (Alexander Calvert) leaves the Winchester brothers with differing opinions on how to deal with a Nephilim. After being dragged into the breach, Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) must learn to survive Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) and an apocalyptic world.

Sam enlists everyone's help in trying to track down Dean, who can literally be anywhere. Meanwhile, Castiel may be in over his head after meeting up with an unreliable source. After being drained of his grace, Jack is adjusting to life as a human, learning new skills and figuring out how he fits in to this world of hunters.
