A warrior takes his son on a quest seeking a magical dragon scale. When the father is injured, the son decides he will go it alone and on his journey meets a friendly gecko who offers to guide him. The gecko asks why the boy wants the scale but he is too ashamed to say. When the boy finally meets the dragon in its lair he discovers that it and the gecko are one and the same. The boy reveals he is seeking to fix his stammer, but that it's his father's wish, not his own. When the boy gets back to safety he tells his father he did not take a scale, and that he is all right as he is.
